A cuboid shaped diamond characterised by trimmed corners, the Radiant cut combines the elegance of the Emerald cut diamond with the brilliance of the Round. With 70 facets (25 on the crown (top), 8 on the girdle and 37 on the pavilion (bottom)) the effect of its colour refraction is maximised. Due to its design, the Radiant cut requires more weight in the diamond's depth in order to optimise brilliance. Depth percentages of 70% to 78% are not uncommon in the Radiant cut diamond.
Radiant cut diamonds are an excellent choice of diamond for engagement rings and wedding rings, as well as other fine jewellery. If you are interested in a square-ish or rectangular diamond cut, you may also consider the Cushion cut diamond, Emerald cut diamond and the Asscher cut diamond.
Due to its large facet, it is important to consider optimum colour and clarity grading, the Radiant cut diamond will show inclusions and imperfections easily.
Radiant cut diamonds can be cut to a square outline with a ratio of of 1.00, ranging between 1.00 to 1.05, or for an elongated outline with a 1.30 ratio as the ideal; a range of approximately 1.20 to 1.40. If you prefer a longer, narrower silhouette look for a ratio of 1.50 to 1.80.
